Peer at the Pier
I've seen it many times as I have driven along the esplanade at Shorncliffe, high above the sea. I've seen the pier but in all the years I have lived in Queensland, I'd not set foot on it. I decided to have a close look at this famous pier. I'm so glad I did.
First of all, I met the coffee man but missed out on a coffee as he was closing up for the day. He appears daily with his awesome red truck - except Mondays (it's worth going just to see the vehicle). If you want to check what his hours are or what is on the menu, call him on 0450 771 884.
The red coffee truck
There's plenty of covered seating areas nearby to sit and enjoy your coffee and eats! It would be a great place to take a picnic basket too!
It wasn't the best of days to walk the pier. Smokey skies made the views to the Port of Brisbane and Woody Point hard to see. There were quite a few people enjoying the walk along the jetty and quite a few folk fishing - or trying to catch fish.
History tales along the pier
Along the pier are stories on the history of the pier about the ferry and more. If you like fishing, there's places to clean and wash your fish.
