Shopping at Racecourse Road in Ascot

Published February 16th 2011

You've probably been up and down Racecourse Road a few times on your way to and from Doomben and Eagle Farm race courses, but have you ever really stopped and taken a look around? The Ascot street is a shopping and dining precinct in itself, with restaurants, boutiques and retail outlets to explore.

Fashion

Retailers along Racecourse Road cater to men, women and children. Browse clothing, shoes, accessories, jewellery, home wares and more at over a dozen different stores, including:

The whimsically (and appropriately) named Hunt and Gather boutique,

Tailoring and off the rack suits at Harrison's Menswear,

Chic Lingerie, which stocks undergarments in larger sizes,

A selection of accessories at Fiera's Jewellery, Gifts and Interiors, and

Cotton and Co for locally designed jewellery.

Eating and Drinking

From a quick bite to a gourmet meal, there's something for everyone along this stretch of road. Take advantage of Brisbane's excellent weather and have your meal al fresco.

Bakehouse Le Bon Choix is quickly gaining a cult following for creating pastries, tarts and macaroons that are almost too good to eat.

Baguette Bistro and Bar is also a popular eatery. The decor is Parisienne coffeehouse, the food is traditional French with a dash of Australian fusion. Stay for lunch, dinner, dessert or a cheese platter.

And from one end of the spectrum to the other, Sushi Yatto offers fresh and inexpensive sushi for a bite on the run, while iconic Brisbane restaurant Brett's Wharf is just across the road.

Racecourse Road also houses natural therapists, bottle shops, florists, interior designers, dry cleaners, event and wedding planners, hair dressers, photographers and dozens more different services. See here for a complete list.
