NoHo is short for "North of Houston" which means everything located north of Houston Street in New York City. By the way, this street is not pronounced "HEWS-ton", like the one in Texas. The correct pronunciation of this street is HOWS-ton".

Now that we've got the grammar lesson out of the way, let's talk about shopping in NoHo. Like SoHo, this neighborhood specializes in trendy, funky, one-of-a-kind stores for the most part. We've listed a few of them below.

Atrium, 644 Broadway

This is the store to visit for all your denim needs. The store specializes in just about every brand, type, and style of jeans you can imagine, as well as the accessories to go with them.

This is also a store that makes you wonder at first if you're shopping of waiting for a train. That's because it is designed to resemble just that. You'll half expect to hear the loudspeaker announce the train for "Anaheim, Azuza, and Cucamonga!"

B&B Rare Books, LTD, 200 East 17th Street

If you enjoy collecting or giving rare books, then you have to visit B&B Rare Books, LTD, while you're shopping in NoHo. You'll find books written in the 18th-20th Century as well as modern first editions and other genres.

You may even find books that were signed or inscribed by your favorite author. Just think how wonderful that would be. You'd want to be sure to find a special place for it in your home.

Kirna Zabete, 96 Greene Street

Kirna Zabete features merchandise from so many designers their website actually has an alphabetical listing of them. You can check to see if your favorite designer is included (this is a huge possibility) before you go to the store to pick out your favorite clothing and accessories.

Michael Andrews Bespoke, 2 Great Jones Alley

One look at the address will tell you that you're entering a very unique store. When you do go in, you'll find that you're actually in a men's tailor shop where each suit will be custom fitted to your measurements. "bespoke" is the suit brand name, and it is a very high-quality one. You'll be pleased with the suit that was literally made just for you.
