Shop Till You Drop For A Very Worthy Cause
Situated on the South West Highway, approximately nineteen kilometres from Bunbury, the small town of Boyanup is typical of the picturesque hamlets scattered throughout Western Australia's south-west. However, what makes Boyanup really special is that it's the home of the South West Rail and Heritage Centre, a wonderful historical complex that's dedicated to preserving the area's rail and agricultural past in the form of beautifully restored rolling stock, vintage agricultural equipment and a comprehensive collection of historic photographs. The centre is also the venue for regular community events including open days, special commemorative events and family festivals.

This month's special event has been dubbed 'Shopping for the Shed' and will take place on September 28th. A market with a difference, there will be all sorts of items for sale on the big day, with all proceeds going back into the running of the centre. For the blokes there will be stalls near the Men's Shed with plenty of boy's toys such as tools, building materials and other miscellaneous gadgets, while other stalls under the nearby trees will purvey other goodies that will perhaps appeal more to the women.
Once you've trawled the market stalls, why not spend an hour or so looking around the centre, where you can see impressive historic railway stock, vintage agricultural machinery, the blacksmiths busy at their anvils and the great work done by the dedicated members of the Capel Men's Shed.

This month's event is sure to be especially interesting as everyone loves a market, and this one is all for a very good cause. Entry to the South West Rail and Heritage Centre is by donation, and if you get hungry, snacks are available at the newly refurbished picnic van.
