Get on your bike for some family-friendly fun
An exciting new recreational facility has recently opened in Shoalhaven Heads.

Shoalhaven Heads Pump Track
Grab your bike for some family-friendly fun

The Shoalhaven Heads Pump Track, located in Jerry Bailey Reserve, offers family-friendly recreation of the wheeled variety.

The track has been professionally designed by Brett Barnes of DirtzTrack. He is one of Australia's leading designers who has built tracks for local governments all over Australia.

Pump tracks consist of a continuous loop of crests and berms that you ride without pedalling. The name "pump track" comes from the pumping motion used by the rider's upper and lower body as they ride around the track. The idea of a pump track is to use this pumping motion to maintain your speed around the track without pedalling.

Get pumped for some outdoor fun here

It is a fun way to get outdoors, lure the kids away from their screens, enjoy some physical activity and perhaps even a bit of an adrenaline rush once you get the hang of it. All that is needed is a bike and helmet and you are set to give it a go.

The track caters to riders of all ages and skill levels. At its current stage of development the track is gravel however there are plans to seal the track with bitumen so it can be used by scooters and skateboarders as well as bikes in the future.

All ages, all skill levels & all riders are welcome

The Pump Track complements the existing recreational facilities of Jerry Bailey Reserve which include a skate park, swimming pool (summer months only) and a learn-to-ride track.

It's great to see this community-driven project up and running, funded largely through donations and work in kind support, with a lot of the work being completed by dedicated volunteers from the local community.
