I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

The
Shoal Bay Country Club (SBCC) has been a feature of the area since it was built in the 1930s. Refurbished in 2017 there are now four bars across the two levels as well as three dining areas. It features a public bar, sports bar, a cocktail bar as well as a live music auditorium including a giant screen, a gaming room and a children's play area with interactive games.
Mermaid's Cafe serves breakfast,
The Kitchen & Patio has indoor and outdoor dining areas and there is a late-night dessert bar and takeaway pizza.

The
menu contains the usual pub classics, a range of wood fired pizzas and seafood platters. Children's meals are $12 and there are a few options for those on gluten-free and/or vegetarian diets, To complement the food offerings the
drinks menu has a good selection of wines and cocktails.

You order and pay at the counter and collect your own meals. We enjoyed our meals which were full of flavour and great quality and the views across the bay added to the relaxing atmosphere. The SBCC can also cater for
events and functions such as weddings.

Be aware that this is a very popular venue especially on weekends and during holiday times as the Ramada is next door. A Greek-style taverna is being opened on the ground floor later this year which will increase the space available for dining.
