I am a weekend wanderer. There is a great way to spend a weekend and that's visiting the great places we have here in the Hunter. Keep an eye on my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Wkndwanderer

The weather is great, so it's now time to look for some great beaches where you can spend the day with whole family.

One of Port Stephens treasures is Shoal Bay Beach. Nestled between Nelson Bay and Tomaree, you will find a beautiful white sandy beach. The sand is clean and white while the water is a crystal clear green.

The beach is kid friendly and safe with no big waves. This is because the beach is protected by Tomaree Headland.

There are a number of takeaway food shops across the road. For any one wanting a great meal or a cold beer, try the Shoal Bay Resort. This resort was formerly known as the Shoal Bay Country Club. This is a legendary venue in the area and has hosted some of Australia's best bands.

At sunset Shoal Bay Beach is also one of the area's most romantic spots to stroll along or to pop that ultimate question.

There is a holiday park located on the Nelson Bay side of Shoal Bay Beach. During the summer holiday season you can find a wide range of family friendly water craft for hire. These include water scooters, canoes, sail boards and even catamarans.

So why not take the whole family out for a great healthy and fun day on the beach?

A Friend Get Together, we spent several days at Nelsons Bay, great days even with the overcast weather on one day, do the ferry trip to Teagardens and just don't miss the Best Thai EVER, at MOD THAI, would do a day drive from Newcastle for a takeaway for dinner,👍. Do not miss the Tomaree Lookout, it's a must do for you. Geoff .
