If you are looking for a good Lebanese meal, look no further than Shish Tawook..
Located in Regents Park, near the local train station, Shish Tawook offers exciting authentic Lebanese cuisine.
The flavours are fresh and simple, but the exotic atmosphere and aromas of the food make it perfect for family lunches as well as larger events such as parties and large gatherings.
I was absolutely astounded by how delicious everything on the menu sounds! Reading through the lists of traditional cuisine, it was difficult to settle on what to choose - it didn't help that there were tantalising smells and dishes wafting over from other restaurant diners.
The helpful staff eventually convinced me to place my order. Even before the food arrived, a bright array of pickled radishes, gherkins and olives landed on our table with the tastiest Lebanese bread! I know other diners were a bit confused as we oohed and ahhed over the intriguing colours and even more intriguing flavours.
We ordered a bowl of tabouleh which was absolutely fantastic in a wrap with the restaurant's namesake - shish tawouk! Apparently it is a kind of chicken kebab. We also got koftas and some other kind of lamb kebab.
In the background you can also see a fantastic grilled octopus salad. There are also fantastic options for vegans and vegetarians such as a vegetarian platter of grilled and fried eggplant and other vegetables as well as a tantalising array of salads. The food is so tasty that even takeaway leftovers taste amazing!
The food was fantastic and the service was great. And at a reasonable price too!
Shish Tawouk is a fabulous family restaurant that serves such delicious Lebanese cuisine I have to return! Maybe next time I'll try something from the breakfast menu - if I can get up, that is.
