Ahoy me hearties! Shipwreck Cove is a nautical-themed playground located by the beautiful beach at Golden Bay. This playground is relatively new, having opened in 2020, and is well-designed in both its layout and activities/equipment available. The playground and parking is located on Solstice Grove in Golden Bay. There are large car parks offering plenty of parking spots, with the added bonus of having direct beach access from this same location.

The playground has a large area aimed at older children which is centred around wooden climbing frames which are the two halves of the "shipwreck". There is also a tall tower and slide combination, tunnels in the design of waves, smaller slides and some swings. All the equipment is surrounded by sand and there is a reasonable amount of shade available.

There is a smaller play area aimed at younger children, which is fully enclosed by a fence. The equipment here continues with the nautical theme design and has a small slide, some climbing equipment, plenty of sand and a set of swings with appropriate baby seats.

There is plenty of seating located in various points around the playground, as well as a bbq area and a toilet block. There is a large grass area directly next to the play equipment, which is perfect for kicking a footy or setting up a game of cricket.

Across from the playground is a reasonably large bike track, with a smaller track next to it designed for younger children. These are suitable for bikes, scooters or rollerblades, with the one downside being a lack of shade in this area.

This playground is located just up from the beach and when standing in the play area and facing west, you can catch a glimpse of the beautiful ocean. There is a lookout tower for those wanting a better view, or you can walk directly down on to the beach from the playground.

Overall this playground has a lot going for it and caters for a wide range of ages and interests. The one downside is the lack of shade in certain areas, so be sure to pack hats and sunscreen.
