Shinju Matsuri is the much-loved festival which covers everything that is Broome and the surrounding areas of the Kimberley region.
This will be a fabulous event when Shinju Matsuri pays tribute to their heritage and culture. At the same time, they will be showcasing the multitude of incredible talent that they are fortunate enough to have up there.

Shinju Matsuri is actually the festival of The Pearl and it has always been a festival based on Broome's unique community spirit, cultural assortment and fascinating history. The festival celebrates the four diverse cultures which have come together in Broome over the past century for pearls:
This Shinju Matsuri has been running now since the 1970s and enjoyed by so many. At this festival, there will be the following to tempt you:
Community and cultural programme
It will take place from 25th August to Sunday 2nd September, 2018, and it will be on for 10 days. There will be bright colours, exciting sounds and fabulous food as the community of Broome share this delightful area with the world and the people who call it home.
PROGRAMME
Some of the events that will be on for this festival include:
Float Parade - the Shinju Matsuri Float Parade will be on 26th August at the Weld Street to Male Oval. It will start at 3.30 pm and is a free event.
The floats will be leaving from the oval and cheered on by thousands of people along the way!
Art Awards - Opening and Awards Ceremony
This will be held on 27th August at the Broome Civic Centre.
It is a free event and the winners will be announced here.
The People's Choice winner will be then announced at the Festival Finale on Sunday 2nd September.

You can see the artworks from 28th August- 2nd September from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and admission is free.
Willie Creek Pearl Meat Off - This will be held on 30th August from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. It will be at the Pearl Luggers, 31 Dampier Terrace, Chinatown. Tickets will be $40 per person.
Broome's best chefs will create pearl meat masterpieces as they compete for the cook-off award. Here you can taste their inventions, have a drink, listen to live music and enjoy entertainment.
Pearl Harvest Yum Cha - You can experience the finest Chinese cuisine made by a collaboration of chefs.
This will be held on 30th August, from 6 pm – 9 pm. It will be held at Dampier Terrace, and cost is $75.
For one night only at Shinju Matsuri, China Town will become a Chinese Cuisine food market hub as the Yum Cha event is on with celebrity chef host Adam Liaw!
Included in the ticket price is all you can eat Chinese delicacies with a selection of dumplings, bao, wok noodles boxes and Chinese BBQ delights! There will also be live music and a fully stocked bar.

Floating Lantern Matsuri - At this event, you can send a message to the universe in a very symbolic way!
Regardless of your message, you can watch it float in glowing unison with all the other messages, into the sunset. This event symbolises love, peace and friendship, and is quite moving.
It will be on Friday 31st August, at 4.30 pm. It is free to attend and will be on at Gantheaume point. You can buy the lantern kits for $15 or you can also buy VIP tickets.

Sunset Long Table - Infinity star dining
This will be a phenomenal dinner on the famous Cable Beach, complete with a breathtaking sunset.
It will be held on 1st September, from 5 pm onward. Cost will be $250 and this will be money well spent!
This will be a unique dining experience where you will be served food by Masterchef favourites, Adam Liaw and Marion Grasby, who will join forces for the night.
First of all, you will arrive at the beach and have canapes, along with a selection of beers, wines and cocktails before making your way to your seat.
Free flowing drinks are available throughout your gourmet four-course menu. This menu will be designed specifically by the celebrity Chefs on the night.

Festival Finale - this will be held on 2nd September, from 5:00 pm. It will be held at the Cable Beach, Amphitheatre, and is a free event.
This will be a finale concert to celebrate the end of Shinju Matsuri 2018.
Join in for a dazzling display of fireworks and special performances from locally acclaimed artists. You can either bring your own picnic or get the delights at the food markets.
