Fire up your evening this winter
On a cold winter's night, nothing sounds better than a warm meal in a cozy place and Shinbashi was just what my hubby and I were looking for. Hidden away in Underwood, is the surprise treat that is Shinbashi restaurant. The Japanese style BBQ aka Yakiniku (translates to 'grilled meat') place offer both all-you-can-eat and a la carte style meals that won't leave you hungry.
Like other Asian style BBQ places, the experience means you cook your own food on a hot plate in front of you – with a selection of sauces, and side dishes, it's a fun dining experience, not to mention delicious!
1. They serve healthy meals – using minimal oils and seasonings, this style of cooking is really about bringing out the flavor of the chosen fruits or vegetables.
2. Meals are simple to prepare and you're in control – you get to cook your meats and vegies to your liking, like a normal bbq you just place the meats and vegies (already seasoned and marinated) on the grill, wait a little, et oila – meal ready!
3. It's not fast food, but it's super fast – cooking time is usually just a few minutes.
If you haven't tried Asian style BBQs before, or not very confident in your skills, don't worry the staff are super helpful, and can start you off. There's heaps of choices of ingredients to use and try. Popular among locals and foodies looking for that secret place, Shinbashi is mostly busy on Friday nights and weekends. But if you want to beat the crowd like we did we suggest coming here on a weeknight, however Buffet is served only selected nights, so ring ahead to check when it's on.
