Best described as 'a complex fusion of photography and art, exploring the evolution of the body and spirit within' - local artist Kristi McMillan's contribution to this year's Shimmer Photographic Biennale is titled A State of Flux.
A State of Fluxis a photographic exhibition celebrating the nude human form through sheer fabric (no explicit images). In her artist statement, Kristi explains 'the human form is always beautiful' and using mainly everyday people (volunteers from her mailing list), the resulting images are of 17 people, including a woman who shed 48kg (the image featuring on A State of Flux's promotional flyers). Kristi has fused traditional studio photography with digital art, making the subject's sheer fabrics shimmer (which is apt given the exhibition is part of the Shimmer Photographic Biennale).
On Saturday, 13th September 2014, Cradle of Hills Winery will host Kristi's Meet the Artist session - from 2pm to 4pm, with complimentary wine and food platters on offer to guests of the exhibition. The exhibition will open on other days (by appointment) until 28th September 2014.
