I found out about this place after buying one of those online voucher deals, and I'm glad that I did! It's a little sanctuary amidst the hectic bustle of Coomera.
I've been to Japan and experienced the onsens it is famous for, and due to their amazing mineral waters and serenity nothing can really come close to them, but I have to say that Shimizu Garden Spa comes close to replicating the atmosphere.
I visited Shimizu with my husband who was equally impressed with the standard of detail. Shimizu's website says that it will allow you to
escape the stress of modern day living and rejuvenate in the beautiful surrounds of Shimizu garden. Balance and cleanse your mind, body and soul and I would agree that it does that.
Shimizu offers sauna, hot and cold spa, cold water treatment pool, facial therapy, massage therapy as well as the standard day spa features of salt scrubs, body wraps, pedicures, manicures etc. These can all be bought singularly or in a package. Prices are reasonable, and I'm keen to go back and try the Detox Package - 4 1/2 hours of massage, detoxyfying body wrap, and deep cleanse facial all for $260.
The use of the bath house facilities including spas, sauna and pool is $25 for an hour, however if you wish to use them as an add on to any other day spa purchase then it's $15.
We tried the spas, pool and sauna. These should be approached as a set ritual. There is a hot spa and a cool spa, as well as a pool of freezing cold water. Coming from the Japanese onsen thought of health through hydrotherapy, the idea is to spend time in each with the different water temperatures to better carry oxygen throughout the body, awakening your body's senses, detoxifying and leaving you feeling refreshed and glowing. The bitterly cold water in the pool closes the pores and sends the blood back to the center of the body collecting toxins and circulating them through the liver, kidneys and muscles. The hot spa then draws those same toxins to the skin surface allowing it to sweat out through perspiration.
While you're trying this bath house area, herbal tea is delivered to you poolside, allowing the perfect opportunity to close your eyes and relax, and just take in the serenity.
The entire garden spa area is beautifully arranged with timber finishes, garden statues, and appropriate plants and pathways. A change room is supplied for use before and after the spa/pool area. Accompanied with a massage, facial or other treatment, the whole day spa experience is rejuvenating and relaxing.
Whilst we were in the spa a mother and daughter joined us in the garden area to celebrate a birthday. Champagne and nibblies were brought out as part of their package. The website details wedding, birthday and other special occasion packages available.
This is a nice place to spend the morning relaxing and unwinding.
