Are you a night shift worker, overweight, and work at least four night shifts a fortnight? This Monash University study in Melbourne is looking at different types of diets to help with weight loss and improving overall health.

 

You may be eligible if you are:

- A current night or rotating shift worker, working 2-night shifts per week or 4 night shifts every fortnight

- Aged ≥ 25 and ≤ 65 years

- Overweight

 
What's involved?

The study runs for 18 months. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will:

  • Meet with a dietitian regularly (13 visits over 18 months).

  • Be given a dietary strategy to follow for six months.

  • After this period, follow a one-year weight maintenance program.

  • On 3 occasions you will have a fasting blood sample take, have your body composition measured and complete questionnaires on sleep, physical activity and mental well-being.
     

    Participants will receive a $100 petrol voucher for their time. Some meals will also be provided over the course of the study.
