It's known as the busiest cross-walk in the world and it's worth a look.

Shibuya crossing is located just outside the Shibuya Train Station in Tokyo. When the traffic lights go red and pedestrians are given the walk signal there can be about 1000 people criss-crossing at one time from all directions.

The cross walk might be familiar to movie buffs, who may have spotted the cityscape in movies, it has featured in numerous films including Lost in Translation and The Fast and Furious.

With so many people using the cross-walk you might think it'd get a bit pushy and rough but it's just the opposite. Tokyo-ites, used to living in such a densely populated city, somehow have a calm demeanour in the hustle and bustle of crowds and more often than not manage to weave their way around and avoid bumping into one another.

The vibrant lights and buildings surrounding the intersection mean the area is great for taking photos and the area is especially busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you're lucky, you might even spot the Mario Kart style go-karters zooming through the area in costume as they recreate their favourite video game scenes.
