If you are hoping for a quiet place to cosy up during the weekend but don't feel like being stuck at home, I have sourced the perfect place. Discover Sherlock's Tavern located on Mirrabooka Ave, Alexander Hights. Sherlock's is suitable if you are craving a satisfying meal, looking for somewhere to hang with mates for a drink, or simply just an escape to sit back and relax. Also, being family orientated and child friendly Sherlock's is a win and won't let you down.
Sherlock's Tavern was named after the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. As I observed the scene, I realised I was sitting in the lounge of Detective Sherlock Holmes. The Sherlock Holmes memorabilia throughout the bar and restaurant created that element of an old London pub back in time.
I have recently been to Sherlock's for dinner and also during the afternoon on a Sunday. It was good to see that the place has become a comfortable home to quite a few locals. I was impressed that it was quite spaced out and peaceful. We sat near the fireplace which was quiet, cosy and private. As I zoned out and let the cruisy, informal atmosphere take over, I indulged myself with a Toblerone cocktail which is the best chocolate cocktail I have tasted yet.
There is also an outdoor area where you can kick back or pull up a stool around the bar inside. The staff were pleasant and friendly on both occasions and meals were fairly priced as we struggled to finish our dinner. If you favour the flavour of spearmint aero chocolate, then I highly recommend trying their Liquid Ecstasy shot for a sensational minty refresher. The Surf and Turf steak was juicy, tender and full of flavour and I will definitely be returning for the strawberry mousse.
Sherlock's Tavern serves a variety modern Australian cuisines and also $12 specials during the week. The top 3 meal recommendations from the Manager are: The Sizzling chilli and garlic seafood $20
Chicken parmigiana $22 Scotch fillet with your choice of sauce $32 There are also vegetarian options, children's menu, dessert, wine and cake selection.
Join in on the fun during the week: Tuesday - Schnitzel night and trivia Thursday – Karaoke night Friday - Poker night.
Sherlock's Tavern has a function area and dance floor which can accommodate up to 100 people. There is an ATM inside the venue, highchairs, poker machines and plenty of parking right out the front of the tavern.
Upcoming events at Sherlock's: Fathers Day: This fathers day, fathers receive a free pint when ordering from the la carte menu and don't forget to enter the raffle. First prize is a Greg Norman golf bag valued at approximately $250. Second prize is a hamper valued at $100 and third prize is a $50 meal voucher.
Melbourne Cup: Yellowglen champagne promotion and interactive games for patrons.
Colours for footy: Friday 2nd September, wear your teams colours and help raise money for the fight cancer foundation.
Well, guess this is the place that has it all, along with the Sherlock's Holmes experience. If you haven't discovered it already, don't leave it a mystery.
Sherlock's Tavern is open 11am till late and open until midnight Saturday and Sunday.
