In addition to the tanned bodies that patrol the Gold Coast and the poolside of the Sheraton Mirage is the ever-present Australian White Ibis or Sacred Ibis. Once playing an important pest management role in curtailing the small insects and grubs, it has become a regular scavenger of food scraps offered by or left by locals and visitors.
