An explosion of colour and classical Chinese culture
Shen Yun Performing Arts, the highly acclaimed theatrical performance that showcases 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, dance, music, stories and culture, is coming to Sydney in April. You won't want to miss this "explosion of colour and sound" that will transport you to another world.
Shen Yun began in New York in 2006 when leading classical Chinese artists came together to revive the true culture of China and share it with the world. Shen Yun now tours the world, performing in over 100 cities every year, and featuring top artists from around the globe.
The performances incorporate classical Chinese dance and music to weave a rich tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales. You will see the world's foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops, all supported by a number of eminent conductors, choreographers and composers.
Classical Chinese dance shares a common ancestry with martial arts that will be displayed in its dramatic jumping, spinning, and flipping techniques. Drum-accompanied ethnic and folk dances will enliven your senses and the Shen Yun Orchestra will blend ancient Chinese instruments, like the emotive erhu and delicate pipa, with a full Western orchestra, creating an exhilarating new sound.
The spectacular Shen Yun Performing Arts show has been seen by millions of people at sold-out performances around the world, and now it's Sydney's turn. Tickets are on sale online now for performances from Tuesday 14th April to Thursday 17th April, including evening and matinee performances, at the Sydney Theatre, Walsh Bay. Prices range from $89 to $159.
