The Central Coast is known for the different beaches they have available for locals and tourists alike, no different to the Northern Beaches in Sydney. Out of all the beaches along the Central Coast, I would have to say that Shelly Beach would be one of my favourite beaches.
This is because Shelly Beach makes the way for great walks along the park and the sand, and also for catching pretty good waves, except during danger zones like any beach. Also this beach is fortunate to have gained a new surf club and kiosk, which would have easily cost a few million dollars to build and develop; hence making way for quality surf life savers to some degree.
The lifeguards were out in force during the recent Christmas/New Year break, yet on one afternoon when red flags were apparent, there were people swimming in the high tide, and the six lifeguards just sat there at the nearest park bench and did not do anything, not even to alert those people to stop. Otherwise Shelly Beach is fantastic.
