With a growing family (and especially a newborn baby, or toddler), there have been many times in our parenting lives that we have wished for business services that rarely exist. A butler to bring us coffee in bed, an imaginary nanny who washes the dishes (and takes the baby so we can sleep for one second longer...) or a service station where you don't have to wake the baby, just to get out of the car and fill up, in a low-on-fuel emergency!


Try to refrain from getting to excited, but Townsville has just that. One lone service station where you can pull up with a sleeping baby or toddler, and have your petrol tank filled for you. And pay right at the car window without ever having to get out of the car.

The first time that I discovered Shell in Belgian Gardens, was after a long, hot day at the beach, and I had three little people, sandy, wet and fast asleep in the back seat. I realised that I was in desperate need of petrol and a long distance from home.

Getting all three out in that state, just to get fuel, would have been near-on impossible, and unfortunately, I am not Paris Hilton and there is no butler to do it for me. Or is there? To say that I was excited to have the lovely staff at Shell come out and fill up the car for me, would be a massive understatement - let's just say that I didn't cry for joy. I had sand in my eye.

Parent Note: Always keep change in the car handy so that you don't have to get out to pay!
