As the temperature drops and you are snuggled up and warm, spare a thought for those who are struggling this winter.

The Salvation Army is running its 6th annual Shed Your Winter Coat Appeal in conjunction with Karrinyup Shopping Centre. From 8th June to 5th July donations of warm clothing including coats, jackets, jumpers or new blankets or doonas can be left in the collection bin in the Centre Court at Karrinyup Shopping Centre.



Encouraging the Perth community to embrace the magic of giving, lead actresses from Wicked the Musical, Jemma Rix (Elphaba) and Suzie Mathers (Glinda the Good Witch), were with Robin Falloon from the Salvation Army, as people made generous donations to the collection box, on the first day at the centre.



The Salvation Army's statistics reveal harrowing figures for their welfare clients including:
57% have gone without meals,
67% experienced extreme housing stress, paying 50% of their income for accommodation and
60% of children went without 5 or more of life's essential items.

The Karrinyup Shopping Centre marketing manager, Claire Ridley, hopes to collect 3000 articles of warm clothing for the Salvation Army and make this year's Shed Your Winter Coat Appeal the biggest and most successful so far.



Donations in good, clean condition can be made in the collection bin in Centre Court from
Monday 8th June- Sunday 5th July
Mon-Sat 10am-5pm
Thurs 10am-7pm
Sunday 12pm-4pm

These items will go directly to those in need.
