Shebeen Bar

Home > Melbourne > Bars
Published August 3rd 2013
Stumbled across this bar while doing a lane way wander over the weekend. Fascinating place, has a real edgy feel and according to the menu all the profits go to charity. The bar is situated in Manchester Lane, what attracted out attention was the awning jutting out in to street, it appeared a little like a side street store.

The lane way is quite narrow and still frequented by cars so we had to step to one side a few times to let the traffic pass as we headed up the Shebeen.

When I got home I looked up their website and found that its designed after street bars in Africa. I've never been to Africa so I can't comment on its authenticity but it feels genuine enough.

The menu outlines which charity the profits are going to when you choose which drink to buy as each drink supports a particular cause. We were were there around 1pm so it was very quiet, but the atmosphere was fresh and colourful. It was a fun way to pass an hour or so chatting.

No need to feel guilty after all you're drinking for charity (?)
