Do Something for Cancer
Sara is fighting like a girl.
Life has it's twists and turns and sometimes we have to fight illnesses and diseases, such as cancer. Since September 2012, Sara - the daughter of a lovely friend of mine has been married, given birth to a beautiful baby girl and found out that she has cervical cancer. Managing day to day life just became harder for them. Mortgage payments, bills and medical expenses don't come to a screeching halt just because you have cancer. This is a time for her family to be together and not have the additional worries of financial issues.
Cervical cancer is the 3rd most common cancer affecting Australian women; about 750 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year.
Treatment can involve surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. People who shave their hair help to normalise baldness, which can be one of the more distressing side-effects of cancer treatment. Sara's friend Mary is going to dye her hair pink, then will shave the lot off! But, she needs people to sponsor her before she's going to do it.
