Wakefield Press takes pleasure in inviting you, your friends, fellow writers and book lovers to the launch by
Joan Fenney of
East Avenue Books of the novel
Underground Road by
Sharon Kernot.
Underground Road is the first novel by South Australian author, Sharon Kernot. It was short-listed in the Unpublished Manuscript category of the Adelaide Festival of Awards in 2010.
Underground Road has been described as:
"A sharply political novel, highlighting uncomfortable but necessary questions about justice, fairness and human rights - especially the rights of children to live safely and be looked after, to enjoy fulfilled and happy lives. The final scenes are riveting." -
Francesca Rendle-Short.
"Kernot's prose is clear and plain-spoken, her eye for detail sharp. She cleverly knits together separate lives to make a vivid, gripping whole. This is an accomplished , slow-burning novel." -
Cath Kenneally.
Sharon will talk about how she came to write her book and how it relates to her work experience at Families SA. She will also do a short reading and after will be available for signing copies of her book, which will be on display.
Wines will be served courtesy of
Fox Creek Wines.
