Hindley Street has recently been undergoing a series of revamps, with a number of new bars, clubs, and restaurants finding home in the many vacant spaces that are currently residing on this street.

If you have recently walked down this infamous, party-central street, you may have noticed a small restaurant that is tucked away on the corner shared with Peel Street called by Gondola Gondola.

Well, the owners of this joint have recently launched a brand new karaoke bar with a truly sophisticated name - Shangri-La. As lavish as it sounds, this is a place where you can give your vocal cords a real workout, whilst simultaneously sipping on classy cocktails with a traditional twist.

Cleverly tucked away on the first level of a former mini-shopping complex, Shangri-La is where tradition meets modernity. Upon walking in to this small but inviting space, you notice the bar, which presents with a pop of bright and vibrant coloured shelves that showcase Shangri-La's selection of alcohol for its customers.

The ceilings are illuminated with traditional Chinese lanterns, which gives the bar a beautiful balance of a sultry and socializing atmosphere.

There are two distinctive, large-scale murals that are created by local artist Elaine Cheng. Each of these murals adds to the oriental vibes that make this bar stand out from the rest. If you're not heaps into drinking or karaoking, you should at least drop by and visit Shangri-La for the beautiful wall art, as it brings the otherwise dark room alive with the bright colours surrounding it.

The beautiful array of colorful shelves behind the bar further entices its customers with appealing options of sweet and/or strong poison. The guys have done a fantastic job at adding elements of chic design to their bar.

Shangri-La specializes in creating custom-made cocktails but has a generous variety of alcohol, so do not feel shy in asking for classic drinks or unique concoctions of mixers with booze.

The karaoke part of the bar is exquisite, as it not only supplies its future Australian idols with options of classic hits, but also regularly updates their playlists with the top tracks of the current era as well. So, if you are currently obsessed with the latest songs, then chances are that you will be able to sing to your heart's content at Shangri-La.

Unlike most karaoke bars, Shangri-La offers its customers with the opportunity to have the best of both worlds, where customers can enjoy a VIP experience of karaoking with their select group of friends, and enjoy some gorgeous-looking cocktails and delicious pizzas to add to a fun night out on the party-centric street of Adelaide CBD.

If you're into the more traditional side of things, you can have a go at sipping on the North-west Yunnan, which is an oolong tea-based cocktail with bourbon, lemon and honey. With a smoldering appearance, this might just be the cocktail to prepare your vocal cords for a fun night of singing, wining, and dining with friends!
