Located along Main North Road at Prospect, serves Chinese cuisine that is surprisingly popular with non-Asians. The tables were set with forks and spoons (instead of chopsticks and spoons) and we were the only Asian diners during our visit.
The presentation of the dishes we ordered was quite unique with a slice of carrot in the shape of a swallow or phoenix decorating each dish. Four Treasure Steamed Duck comprises "four treasure" (Chinese Barbequed Pork, prawns, beef and chicken) cooked with duck. The duck, along with the "four treasure" were cooked just right and the vegetables complemented the meats nicely. The sauce also helped to bring out the flavour of the ingredients.
The chicken breast used in the Deep Fried Boneless Chicken with Plum Sauce was tender, contrasted wonderfully by a crisp, golden brown coating. It came with a serving of plum sauce that tasted somewhat similar to Sweet and Sour sauce. The plum sauce was served separately from the chicken so that it does not mar its crispy coating. If you prefer, there is the choice to order a version with lemon sauce instead.
Braised Prawn Omelette had soft, fluffy eggs set off by the firmer braised prawns. The sauce served with the dish rounded out the flavour of the dish without drowning out the flavour of the eggs. It also had a few vegetables that were a good partner to the other ingredients.
Ambience of the restaurant was good but can feel a bit cramped as the tables were quite close to each other. Off street parking is available at the back of restaurant.
