Macbeth is one of the most well-known of Shakespeare's plays; a story of ambition, political power and the desire to do anything for that power. Even though set and written many years ago, there are certainly parallels to today. Now you can experience Macbeth and all the other iconic and dark characters of the play sitting among the lush vines at Crittenden Estate Wines enjoying a picnic and a glass of wine or two.

You can bring your own picnic, picnic rug and a small chair to enjoy the evening of theatrics and some fun too. There will be food and wine for sale or you can pre-order a picnic basket from Picnic Box to make it even easier and more delicious. The philosophy behind Picnic Box is one of local and sustainable produce sourced from the Mornington Peninsula producers as much as possible. The food has been selected to complement the wine and the summer weather.

The Picnic Box has been especially made for the Macbeth performance and consists of:
  • City Larder free-range chicken, leek & truffle terrine, duck & juniper salami, cornichons, cocktail onions & chutney.
  • Baker Boys & Cape Schanck EVOO crostini.
  • Smoked salmon & whipped goats' cheese brioche sliders.
  • Egg & cress, cucumber & herbed cream cheese sandwiches.
  • Local Mornington Peninsula cheeses with Red Hill quince paste, dried figs, honey macadamias, artisan crackers.
  • Arc CafĂ© lemon tart, Main Ridge Sunny Ridge strawberries & macarons
  • Reusable picnic box cooler bag with ice pack.
  • It costs $100 for 2 people and you can pre-order here .

A range of Crittenden wines will, of course, be available by the glass and bottle as you settle in for an afternoon of joy and entertainment on the rolling lawns overlooking the Estate's picturesque lake.

Check out the award-winning Lakeside Villas on the Estate - there may still be accommodation available and if not you can plan to stay there another time.

    Important information
NO BYO ALCOHOL is allowed - this is, after all, a vineyard and there are lots of great wines to buy the glass or bottle.

Gates open at 4pm and the performance will begin at 5pm.

Tickets will be emailed and can be printed and shown in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can have your tickets ready on your phone when you arrive.

Blankets only towards the front. You may be directed as to where to sit according to what you choose to bring and we appreciate your cooperation with this.

Please note that this is an all-weather performance and an extreme weather contingency plan has been arranged should it be required. There will be no refunds on ticket sales.
