Here is a wonderful opportunity to take in a unique and innovative new show where abstract visual art collaborates with street dance. Brisbane's own Wanida Serce is presenting her very first independent project, SHADE at the Princess Theatre, 8 Annerley Road, South Brisbane on Saturday, 13 June 2015. Doors open and the pre-show entertainment commences at 7.00pm with the main show starting at 8.00pm.

Admission for this delightful night of entertainment is $21.50. Purchase your tickets here .

SHADE will highlight some of Brisbane's preeminent, artistic performers as they bring amazing pieces of visual art to life on stage through urban dance movements. During the show you will see how, after seven weeks of rehearsals, twelve dancers, eight choreographers and seven visual artists come together in an astonishing night of entertainment. As performance art, SHADE, breaks the mould of any previous Brisbane street dance show and engages the audience with creative projections, fusion choreography and unique abstract art.

In developing the concept for assimilating visual art and dance Wanida has teamed individual visual artists with a single choreographer. Each choreographer has chosen a piece from the visual artist's collection and then created a dance routine inspired by the art. Then, during the show, the artwork that inspired the dance is projected onto the back of the stage.

The inspiration for SHADE came to Wanida during a recent teaching and dance training trip to the US. She was motivated to create this incredible platform for Brisbane's upcoming and established dance and visual artists that pushs the performers to become more active in creating work and culture in the dance community.

As the driving force behind this spectacular production Wanida is also a Brisbane teacher, dancer and choreographer and she takes on several different roles during the show. The audience will enjoy the diversity throughout SHADE as it incorporates the talents of some of Brisbane's leading choreographers such as internationally accredited Lizzie Wicks, Chè Pritchard and Mariana Paraizo. These choreographers have teamed with local artists including, Larissa Lea, Liam Herne and Dave Behrens who have supplied the one-of-a-kind visual art for inspiration and display during the dance sequences.

Lizzie Wicks is an International teacher, dancer, choreographer and creative director who has choreographed fashion shows for Nike Australia and the BMW 'M' series launch in Shanghai, China. Lizzie has worked with artists appeared on X-Factor Australia and Australian Idol. She has recently returned from working as the sole choreographer and creative director for Shanghai's biggest VIP night life venue. Lizzie is proud to be back home in Brisbane and helping to make a real difference to the live performance industry.
Che Pritchard has worked on international feature films, music videos and stage performances since 2008. Starting out primarily as a freestyler in the street dance scene, he trained in a number of styles in Canada. He is now an established choreographer having choreographed dance events for Budweiser, Nike, Coca-Cola and Smirnoff. Che has also choreographed artists such as Shazelle and Dubmarine and coached and choreographed a number of successful adult performance and competition dance crews including Method Crew and Harlequin. Che's choreography always leaves a lasting impression.

Mariana Paraizo has performed in many European countries as a free-lance, contemporary and hip hop dancer. She also performed as an independent artist including a tour of Russia as the lead dancer for ADAM (Madeira's Dance and Arts Association). For five years she choreographed for Ritmos Urbanos Produções de Espectáculo (Ritmos Urbanos Dance Productions), in Portugal and in 2012 travelled to Los Angeles for intensive training to develop her hip hop technique and skills.

Larissa Lea works primarily with mixed media mediums and resin. She describes her process as a complete state of mental and emotional freedom. She is able to disconnect with the environment around her and become fully enthralled with the interlacing fusion of the colours of the paints as they intertwine and become inseparable yet do not quite mix. The designs are formed through the placement and directed movement of the paint being applied both by brush and the use of tilting and gravity.

Liam Herne creates his photographic works by combining kitsch imagery with abstract expressionism. His work is quasi-autobiographical as it is heavily influenced by his surroundings and the different things he finds or encounters. Liam is originally from Watford, UK and has been living in Brisbane for the last two years.

Dave Behrens' paintings whisk the viewer into an exhilarating, fantastical world of pattern, shape and colour. A native of Sydney, Dave now lives and works in Brisbane. He has previously exhibited in New York, Sydney Art Expo, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra and recently won an inspiration award for his work, 'The Peace Within'. Dave is a featured artist on the popular Australian television show, 'Put Some Colour in Your Life'.
