Sexie Coffie Temptation near Maryborough
Sexie Coffie Maryborough - a Great Stop on a Long Drive
When undertaking a long drive up the Queensland Coast, we all know that it's important to stop and refresh regularly. Three hours from Brisbane, just past Maryborough on the Bruce Highway, is a coffee stop which offers a little more than your usual road stop fare.
Pulling off the highway at the Matilda petrol station five minutes past the Maryborough is Sexie Coffie, offering boutique brews for tired drivers. The bright, airy premises, house an outdoor and indoor seating area and coffee shop, as well as clean restrooms. On the menu are a range of coffee choices and aptly named "Strip Teas". We enjoyed the coffee of the month "Kenya Monarch" which was a medium roast. Other travelers enjoyed a freshly made smoothie and we all sampled the goodie offerings from the cakes cabinet - the Gluten-Free Brownie was really good. There were also a variety of sandwiches, filos and other savoury offerings on the menu.
The shop also houses an outlet store for Sexie Coffie, which has an Online Store. For sale were a range of freshly roasted coffees, teas, chocolate coated nuts and fruits (the dark chocolate coated almonds didn't last long after they were opened) and coffee making paraphernalia, including milk warming jugs, travelling coffee mugs and flasks (which came with a free coffee) and a variety of gift hampers. This is perfect if you've forgotten to get a gift for your loved ones before paying them a visit. Locals or visitors to Maryborough can undertake Barista and Coffee Appreciation courses at the store.
Shelves Stocked With Tea, Coffee and Chocolate Treats
There is a second Sexie Coffie store in Rockhampton and the Website offers the opportunity to sign up to their newsletter, read about their coffee blends and origins, as well as purchasing Sexie products.
For a coffee stop with a difference I would definitely recommend dropping into Sexie Coffie the next time you are travelling up the Bruce Highway. They are open 6am to 6pm every day except Christmas Day. If nothing else it is a great story to tell your friends who will think you must be very risque.
