Sweet things come from sweet places and Seville Cherry Farm was just that when I had the chance to make it out there over the weekend.
The winding road, the picnic tables under shady trees and of course rows and rows of cherry trees are quite a sight when you drive-in. The layout is perfect for a u-pick farm as the dam, picnic tables and sheds are surrounded by the cherry trees so you don't have to travel too far to get back or to get to another section that offers a different variety of cherry.
Rob, the owner took some time out to show us around his farm and I learned that the farm has over twenty varieties of cherries and is spread out over 16 acres so that you can come and pick to your heart's content. The farm has been a cherry farm for over fifty years and still includes some of the original cherry trees as well as many new varieties that out shine any supermarket store bought cherry.
I could really see that a lot of work has gone into producing superior quality cherries and to make picking your own cherries a truly memorable experience. When you come on the day, Rob or one of his staff will show you where the best cherries can be found and are happy to share a bit of info on how they manage to get such sweet juicy cherries.
I hope you get the chance to visit this great farm. They will open their gates for u-picking around mid November this year. Check out their Facebook page for updates for the exact day.
