Some of the best park playground discoveries I've made with my kids have been the result of serendipity. Usually one of them will point and shout if they see something which looks even the slightest bit like fun. This was the case with – a blink-and-you'd–miss-it type of park tucked away in a suburban residential area of Woodridge.

It was the brightly coloured and unusually shaped climbing structures that took my daughter's fancy. There are two separate climbing structures with scramble nets, ladders, climbing walls, ropes and a fireman's pole. The odd configuration of this play equipment means that their use is limited only by your child's imagination.

You can't go past a swing for playground fun. This park has a beauty with a nest swing – great for multiple riders.

The large orange slide was lots of fun, made even better on a dry winter's day with plenty of static build up. Small children may need assistance from an adult to ride this, but older children would be fine with it.

For fitness fun which is a bit more structured there is a basketball half-court. This would be especially suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Large sun sails provide plenty of shade and some sun protection. Sheltered picnic tables and chairs also provide refuge on a sunny day.

is located in Woodridge, just near Trinder Park rail station. It is a lovely little park for a play with friends, without the hassle of fighting the crowds that gather at larger parks. For other great parks in Logan City check the Logan City Council's website .
