The
Setting Sun Film Festival has been growing in strength since it first emerged, and now celebrates its 6th year. It attracts entries from around the world, each one vying for the prize to be the best short film under 15 minutes. With many categories open to everyone, the best films submitted forms the basis of the festival, for your viewing pleasure.

From the Australian premiere of the Victorian feature film
About An Age to an amazing selection of short films from here and internationally, there's something for everyone. The eclectic programs feature animations, documentaries, drama, comedies and experimental films. For the first time this year,in partnership with
Cinespace , a
FREE WORKSHOP will be running on how to make a film with your smartphone. Places are limited and
bookings would have to be early!
Workshops will occur on
Saturdays 4 & 11 May 2019 from 9am to 5pm; plus a commitment to make a short film in your own time after the workshop, with support. Location is at
Kindred Studios, 3 Harris St, Yarraville, and the workshops will be facilitated by
Daniel Schultheis from
Cinespace Inc .
Daniel has been working in community filmmaking and education for more than 15 years and has also been a producer of television and independent feature films.

Opening Night - Golden Sunset Program Event ticket (screening
2 May from 7pm to 10pm) soon. Enjoy a free drink and popcorn, vote in the
People's Choice, meet the finalists and see their winning films. It'll be hosted by Russell Fletcher and launched by Maribyrnong Mayor Cr Martin Zakharov.
The Australian feature film premiere
About an Age on the following evening (
3 May) from
6.45-9.30pm is a tribute to an awkward phase we've all made it through and have powerful memories of. It's a nostalgic coming-of-age film set in one location and examines themes of responsibility, first love and the passing of time via one single evening shared by a group of playful mates.
May 4 from 5.30-7pm gives a nod to short films, written, directed and produced by female filmmakers from around the world in
