A good nights sleep for the kids
Sesame Street: Sleepy Time Songs and Stories and Quiet Time is the perfect pre-bedtime double episode video for little fans of the series, who are having a hard time getting to sleep.
Sesame Street: Sleepy Time Songs and Stories and Quiet Time
The main story of the first episode is basically that of "Bedtime Stories and Songs", which I and many of my friends had on VHS when we were kids, but all the cutaway songs and stories are from more modern episodes of the show. This particular episode is a lovely mash-up of nostalgia for adults and familiarity for the kids.
In Sleepy Time Songs and Stories, Big Bird shares with us, his top tips for falling asleep, everything from getting comfy, to lullabys, telling stories and even counting sheep and he gets help from his friends The Count, Ernie and Bert, Snuffy, Gordon and even Cookie Monster, who realises that if the moon was a cookie and he ate it, he'd be sad, because there would be no more moon beams to light up the night sky.
They all share their best songs, stories and bedtime routines to help you and your little ones to figure out what works best for them to get a good night's rest.
In Quiet Time, Big Bird's Granny Bird tells him it's "quiet time" and he doesn't know what to do, so he asks his friends to help him, but Oscar the Grouch and his Grouchketeers want to have a noisy time. So Big Bird and the rest of his friends find a whole host of quiet time activities to do, from using your imagination, to reading a book and learning about Baby Bear's "Quiet Time: Top Ten". Keep an eye out, because there is even a special guest appearance by Kermit The Frog from The Muppets, who sings a lovely song about listening to the quiet sounds of the evening.
This episode is the perfect learning tool to find out what the difference is between quiet time and loud time and the importance and fun of reading a good book.
Sesame Street: Sleepy Time Songs and Stories and Quiet Time is rated G for general guidance.
