As a foodie enthusiast, I'm often spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a place to eat, given the abundance of award-worthy cafes and restaurants all around Melbourne, and not just in the city too. Servery & Spoon is a modest, little café located in the heart of Malvern East, with a name that reminded me so much of childhood nursery rhymes along the likes of 'the cow jumped over the moon, and the dish ran away with the spoon'.

My nostalgic attachment to the name of this café aside, I was immediately taken by the funky interior décor, with mismatched furniture, old books and flower jars and vintage looking wall arts, this place felt like home. It genuinely feels like a place you can kick back, relax and enjoy a nice coffee without feeling harassed to leave the minute you put your spoon down.

I visited the place on a quiet Wednesday afternoon, so perhaps the service wasn't as up to speed as it would've been if the place had been packed. But I had no qualms about waiting, it gave my friend and I more time to catch up as well. The lunch menu was somewhat limited, but the food we ordered was delicious and filling. The salad portions are generous, and look inviting and fresh. Although I was a little sad they didn't serve the fish and chips I initially wanted, the wrap I ordered instead was just as good. I would have loved to try their breakfast menu, as the offerings do look a lot more tempting. The café revises the menu every now and then to keep customers on their toes and to encourage them to keep coming back for more.

A little perk with coming to this café is that there is an adjoining food store that sells a variety of decadent treats, as well as fresh bread and other goodies like homemade jams. It's hard to resist a good old' poached rhubarb and raspberry jam. There are also other quirky items on sale like homemade cards and wallpaper guides that would make perfect little gifts for family and friends.

There's plenty to love about this place, with good food and coffee and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, you'll feel right at home.
