Ever since I was 7-years-old, I knew I wanted to be a writer and made my own Mr Men books. Today, I am a freelance writer and have the privilege to review bands, theatre and comedy across Melbourne, not to mention interview some incredible artists.
In need of a pamper day in Nairobi? Well, look no further than Serenity Spa which is located on UN Crescent Gigiri. The spa also has a secondary location on Ngecha Road, Kitisuru. All within easy reach from the city centre.
Serenity Spa is a luxurious day spa that makes you feel at home from the moment you step inside. The overall feeling of the spa is tranquil and the stylish décor only adds the allure. As well as the spa, there is a coffee shop on site which offers a range of coffees, herbal teas, smoothies and snacks "We pride ourselves on offering the best wellness and holistic services in Nairobi".
Upon arriving I was greeted by reception staff and offered a cool drink and refresher towel. Within moments I met my therapist Grace who performed my 60-minute facial called, The Illuminate Deep Cleanse Facial plus 20 minutes add on Gua Sha Face Massage. Grace has worked at the spa for 4.5 years and is the head therapist. Grace was extremely professional from the onset and very knowledgeable about the products used and services.

To begin with, Grace deep cleansed and toned my skin using the Illuminate Range which was completely organic and paraben-free. Inspired by the Geishas, the products go back to basics and use rice bran oils, vanilla and botanicals to nourish and brighten the skin.

"The Illuminate Facial is one of the best facials we have, its perfect for evening out the skin tone and blemishes. We also use all-natural products," says Grace.
After the cleanse and toner, Grace performed the spectacular Gua Sha Face Massage which left my skin glowing.
"The Gua Sha Face Massage is a Chinese massage where we use crystals that have minerals infused. This procedure is an add on which costs Kshs 2000 for 20 minutes. It's a very good add on because the quartz we use has 3 minerals - copper, zinc and iron, so it helps to generate heat and assists with circulation," says Grace. "It helps with dark circles and firm the skin naturally."
After the massage, Grace applied a mask and gave my feet a much-needed massage. This addition was a lovely surprise and demonstrated the lengths the spa goes to make clients feel relaxed.
Once the facial was complete, I was escorted to the beautiful garden where I was given green tea, water and fruit skewers. It was the perfect end to what was one of the best facials I've experienced.
As well as facials, the spa offers a range of packages including, massages, mud baths, detox services, couples packages and hammams. Grace's welcoming manner and attention to detail made for a delightful facial and memorable experience. Serenity Spa exceeded all expectations and their added touches set them apart.
