Do meals with stir fry ginger, garlic, baby corn, black funghi mushrooms with fresh vegetables or marinated king prawn stir fry with garlic and shallots get your taste buds watering?

There is a small Thai restaurant in down town Cooroy that is gaining a steady following of happy customers if their Saturday night takeaway queue is anything to go by. By 7 pm, there wasn't a free table to be found and those of us who were lucky enough to have one were feeling most fortunate. I also enjoy BYO and hence thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this relaxed restaurant with its happy staff members.

It's easy to see why Serene Thai is gaining a popular following. The food is darn good. Simple. Tasty, generous portions, cosy interior etc. Prices are extremely reasonable too .from their $8.50 lunch specials to stir fry priced between $15.50 - $19.50 depending on which meat you choose, to Thai salads like Pia Goong – fresh prawns tossed with Thai herbs, coriander, mint, chilli, Thai beef salad or Larb Gai (one of my favourites). For a small eatery, they sure have a large menu - very impressive.

Recently I sampled their lunch menu special; chicken and cashews for $8.50 - their blackboard specials are a hit with locals.

What's more, Serene the lovely Thai owner supports the local primary school as well as a riding school for the disabled by donating meal coupons to their raffles to help them raise money.

Opening hours are Monday - Saturday 4.30 – 9pm.
Monday - Friday Lunch 11.30 – 2.30.
