Begin the festive season with a family-friendly Christmas challenge at Seraphim Escape Rooms, Ipswich. There are currently three themed quests available, the "Executioner's Toolshed" and "Atonement" for older players and the family-friendly "Santa's Cottage."

The Scenario
Your name has been added to Santa's naughty list, so you broke into Santa's Cottage. Can you complete his challenges to get yourself back on the nice list before your time runs out?"Santa's Cottage," accommodates up to six people. This homely room is adorned with Christmas decorations, including a large Christmas tree with a bundle of presents. Owner-operator Keziah introduces the challenge and provides initial instructions. Players then search for clues, solve puzzles and piece together vital information to escape within 30 minutes.

My husband and I completed this escape room with our three children, aged 1 - 6 years. The range of challenges provided opportunities for both of the older children to contribute (the youngest entertained herself with a handy basket of toys tucked at the base of the Christmas tree). Despite our collaboration, on two occasions we accepted "additional assistance" from staff monitoring the session via CCTV.

Expect the potential for disagreements, frustration and bewilderment. Most importantly, expect a great family bonding experience!
