Lake Mountain's September school holidays program is sure to be a winner for the more adventurous thrill seeking type of children that want to burn up some energy in the great outdoors, and what better place than on a mountain with fresh cool air and potentially a dusting of fresh snow to really get some excitement in the air.

The 240 metre flying fox was enough to put a few grown ups off giving it a go last time we visited, so the thrill seeking child will be in their element testing their own ability and overcoming nerves to take the leap of faith. I remember the elation of the first time I ever went on a flying fox and the fear I had before stepping off the edge only to discover the joy of being suspended in the air and how that moment became something to remember.

Along with the flying fox there is laser skirmish, guided nature and environmental walks where you can take in the magnificent scenery and spring wild flowers. There is also the tube run, roller ski clinics (for pre organised groups), jumping castle and activities for younger children.

#In the event of snow, activities may be changed and toboggans brought out.

#All activities are based on a 2 - 3 hour rotation per day based on demand.

#Cost is set at $30 per person including all activities with under 5's being free.

When you're finished on the mountain head back to Marysville at the base of the mountain and take a stroll through town stopping in at the playground, the bakery for a bite to eat, perhaps the lolly shop and the information centre to get a detailed map of attractions within Marysville.

The Steavensons Falls are spectacular and only a few kilometres out of town, or a drive to Keppel lookout, the views over Marysville and the surrounding mountains are stunning.

If you are staying overnight, I recommend visiting the several waterfalls on the Lady Talbot Drive ( the best are Taggerty Cascades and The Beeches)

If you are looking to stay overnight the Tower motel and the Marysville Caravan Park have good deals available through VIC&originalSearchTerms=marysville wotif alternatively check Marysville tourisms list of B&B's, hotels and motels .

Enjoy getting back to the great outdoors these school holidays.
