Parramatta's Wistaria Gardens at 1 Hainsworth St, Westmead is the place to be if you're looking for the best spots in Sydney to see blooming spring flowers. September in Wistaria will be held over two weekends - 16, 17, 23, and 24 September from 11am to 3pm each day, and it's a free event with live music, food and beverages, guided tours throughout the garden grounds and more. Look forward to a beautiful space bursting with hanging wisteria, cherry, peach and almond blossoms and revived garden beds with over 1000 new plants including primulas, snapdragons, pansies and violas. There are also First Nations cultural programs, nature connection, well-being and art making workshops for kids and adults. Enter the spring photo competition to win a voucher for popular Parramatta Park restaurant, Misc. Parramatta . All you have to do is snap a pic during spring in Parramatta Park, share your pic in the comments of a Facebook Post before 5pm AEST Thursday 30 November 2023 and like Parramatta Park on this Facebook post before end of competition date and time.

September 24 coincides with World Rivers Day, so celebrate with a special self-guided tour along the Parramatta River about the river’s history and environment in collaboration with Old Government House and the Parramatta River Catchment Group. Enjoy live music across the weekend performed by the duo Highly Strung, Gav Darby and lyrical guitarist Chris Connolly. Over both weekends, the garden of Glengariff House will be a hub of wellbeing, mindfulness and artistic creation with free workshops to look forward to. Why not join Sydney Parklands’ educators and find out about the lives of Parramatta Park’s most important inhabitants – plants and animals? See the full program on the website . Coffee and snacks will be available to purchase, or you could really make a day of it and bring your own picnic. Wistaria Gardens is located at the northern end of Parramatta Park. Entry is via Byrnes Avenue, near the Picnic Ground inside Parramatta Park. Limited parking is available nearby within the park, so taking public transport is recommended
