Feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed by events in your life? Or perhaps you'd like to learn strategies to better cope with trauma, developmental delays, dementia, substance abuse or many other types of mental health issues.

Julie O'Sullivan and Carolyn Fitzgibbon are two Brisbane-based occupational therapists who have written a book on this subject, ' Sensory Modulation Resource Manual '.

Sensory Modulation sounds imposing. But it's really just a way of saying "changing how you feel, through using your senses." It's a way of managing stress or intense emotions and changing them to more positive feelings.

The book helps people to learn how to use sensory modulation and integrate it into their everyday lives with a series of practical, downloadable worksheets and facts sheets. It also offers strategies to integrate sensory spaces for organisations, community areas or home environments.

The book launch will be held on Friday 14th September from 6 - 8pm at Avid Reader in West End. Tickets are available here .

Local swimming legend, Libby Trickett is Queensland's Mental Health Ambassador. In conversation with the book's authors, they will be discussing the power of using sensory input to change the way we feel.

The Sensory Modulation Resource Manual can be downloaded via keywords=sensory modulation resource manual Amazon or view&qid=1534412191614&sr=1-1 Book Depository .

At only $7.50 a ticket and with the opportunity to glean such valuable information from experts, this is an evening not to be missed.
