Parramatta is hosting a range of free 'seniors week' events
Seniors Week in Parramatta highlights the many activities and events to celebrate the contributions of our senior citizens to the Parramatta community.

Please note that most activities / events do require a booking so please click here for website for all information bookings.

Below are the free events that can be enjoyed around Parramatta and other various locations:

1. Seniors Week Art Exhibition
When: 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20 March 2015: 10am-4pm
Where: Riverside Theatres, cnr Church & Market Streets, Parramatta
Details: View and enjoy the artworks from members of the Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service.

2. Help Me If You Can
When: 16 March 2015: 10am-2:30pm
Where: Parramatta Town Hall, Church St, Parramatta
Details: Get all you computer questions answered with the Computer Pals for Seniors. Whether you are a beginner or experienced user, drop in and enjoy a cuppa while you get help.

3. Centenary of WWI & the ANZAC Link to Parramatta
When: 16 March 2015: 10am-12pm
Where: Parramatta Heritage & Information Centre, 346 Church St, Parramatta
Details: This presentation commemorates the 100 years since WWI. It provides you the opportunity to learn more about the ANZAC link to Parramatta.



4. Seniors Week Morning Tea
When: 17 March 2015: 10:30am-11:30am
Where: Ermington Branch Library, 8 River Rd, Ermington
Details: Enjoy and celebrate Seniors Week at the Library as you meet new people in your local area and enjoy morning tea.

5. Over 55's Open Day
When: 17 March 2015: 9:30am-3pm
Where: Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: Enjoy the range of classes and activities such as Yoga, Gentle Exercise, Art, Strength & Balance, Zumba and plenty more to enjoy...

6. Premier's Seniors Week Gala Concerts
When: 17 March 2015: 11am-4:30pm & 18 March 2015: 10am-2:30pm
Where: Qantas Credit Union Arena, 35 Harbour St, Darling Harbour
Details: Viva Las Vegas! This show will celebrate 'the big Vegas Show', from the years of Frank Sinatra, Elvis and the Rat Pack to today's showstoppers featuring artists such as Tom Jones, Celine Dion and Elton John...

7. Storytellers Parramatta
When: 17 March 2015: 10am-12pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: Share your writing with like-minded people and discover the creative techniques used by other writers and poets.



8. Trains, Planes, Automobiles and Ships
When: 17 March 2015: 1:30pm-3:30pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: Experience iconic samples from the transport world together with their history and development, including journeys from around the world.

9. Seniors Week Golf Tournament
When: 18 March 2015: 7:30am registration & 8am start
Where: Woodville Golf Course, 118 Rawson Rd, Guildford
Details: Come along for the 20th Annual Parramatta City Council Seniors Week Golf Tournament. Have a go for the first time or catch-up with like-minded enthusiasts.

10. My Word
When: 18 March 2015: 1pm-3pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: Love the English language? Wonder how our idiosyncratic sayings came about and what some of those peculiar words mean? Then this event is for you! Come along and expand your knowledge and write creatively in an easy going environment.

11. Tai Chi Flash Mob
When: 19 March 2015: 10am-1:30pm
Where: Century Square, Church St, Parramatta
Details: Discover the ancient and gentle form of exercise "Tai Chi" that is suitable for all ages.

12. Seniors Week Celebrations
When: 19 March 2015: 11am-12pm
Where: Constitution Hill Branch Library, 20 Hollis St, Constitution Hill
Details: Come along and join in for a morning tea while staff talk about their library's great resources.



13. People Who Changes The World
When: 19 March 2015: 2pm-4pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: Look closely at the lives of personalities who had a significant influence on humanity's social and economic development. The session focuses on Ernest Rutherford, the first man to split the Atom.

14. Understanding Age Pension
When: 19 March 2015: 10:30am-11:30am
Where: Granville Branch Library, 8 Carlton St, Granville
Details: This information session explains the intricacies of Australian age pension. Learn who qualifies, how the pension is calculated and other details.

15. Let's Get Physical
When: 20 March 2015: 10am-3pm
Where: Karabi Community & Development Services, cnr of Darcy Rd & Fyall Ave, Wentworthville
Details: This is a day for seniors to enjoy being happy and healthy with a range of fitness games and activities to suit any ability. There will be workshops on health and nutrition and fun ways to get more active and boost energy.

16. Facebook for Seniors
When: 20 March 2015: 11:30am-12:30pm
Where: Dundas Branch Library, 21 Sturt St, Telopea
Details: Learn to connect with all your friends & folks on Facebook. This is perfect if you are unsure about Facebook.

17. Brush up on your Scrabble
When: 20 March 2015: 1pm-3pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: This is for all scrabble enthusiasts! If you are less experienced you will enjoy this event too with opportunities to find out how you can improve.

18. Everyday Speaking Mandarin
When: 20 March 2015: 1pm-3pm
Where: Over 55's Leisure and Learning Service, Ground Floor, Council Chambers, 2 Civic Place, Parramatta
Details: This is for learners who want to practice and improve their listening and speaking skills of the Mandarin Language. There will be a range of activities including role plays, discussions and more.

19. Medicine Management
When: 20 March 2015: 2pm-3pm
Where: Tom Collins Meeting Room, Guilford Library, Railway Terrance, Guildford
Details: This is a perfect way to correct the use of medications and their common side effects. There will be time for Q & A and afternoon tea.
