Summer in Adelaide brings beautiful warm evenings when it is a waste to be sitting around at home. Many families flock to the beach to enjoy the cool coastal evening breezes, and Semaphore is one of my favourite places to be then.
Semaphore is a bustling, friendly and unpretentious place with lots of character. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in Semaphore, lovely quaint old buildings, and the fabulous Semahore amusement park on the foreshore reserve. Take a walk on the beach, go for a swim or watch people fishing on the jetty - there are plenty of free things to do here.
At Semaphore Foreshore Reserve - Semaphore Summer Twilight Markets
This summer there's a new Semaphore attraction - Semaphore Summer Twilight Markets is coming to the foreshore reserve. Starting in December the Twilight Markets will be held on select Friday evenings to bring you around 20-25 unique hand picked market stalls. Given the roaring success of the Adelaide Night Markets, this is sure to be good.
The newest markets in Adelaide are a partnership between the Semaphore Mainstreet Association and the hugely successful Wild at Hart Market. In only 12 months the Wild at Hart Market has transformed a dead corner of Port Adelaide into a thriving hub of family entertainment, and the new markets in Semaphore are going to be just as popular.
Relax and Meet Friends at the Semaphore Twilight Markets
Market stalls at the Twilight Market will offer handmade jewellery, gifts, art and crafts, artisan goods of all sorts, clothing for babies up to adults, plants, second hand goods, smoothies, great coffee, and very importantly - street food from around the world. For some reason I find that I always get hungry at markets, and the chance to enjoy new food truck cuisine is a major plus for me.
The Semaphore Summer Twilight Markets are a family affair with live performers including buskers providing free entertainment and a relaxed ambience. After you have finished browsing the market stalls and buying your goodies, there are so many other fun things to do only a short distance away. Have a drink in one of the characterful pubs. Enjoy the fun for kids in the Semaphore amusement park. Stroll along the main street and enjoy people watching, or grab some freshly caught fish and chips.
The Twilight Markets kick off on the foreshore reserve at 6pm and end at 9pm, so you still have plenty of time left afterwards to do something more with your evening. Come along, enjoy the free entertainment and the sea breeze in Adelaide's balmy summer while you search for hidden treasures in the market stalls. After all, half the fun is in the hunt.
I enjoy reading the Weekend Notes and I commend everyone involved!!!
