I seem to find myself in Semaphore a lot lately.

If it's not one of their popular festivals or another , it's the lure of their left field architecture .

The latest attraction to entice me to visit was the . It was a hot 35 degree day, and I did wonder whether the markets would be open, but there were plenty of cars in the vicinity when I arrived.

Perhaps 8-10 stalls were grouped around outside the church hall venue on Military Rd, and there were quite a few more indoors keeping cooler.

An activities tent just for kids had a few mesmerised with the face painting.

Two guitar players provided lively musical entertainment for visitors.

The Market is probably best described as an arts and craft market - while I saw plants and some items of food there weren't many of these. But the quality of some of the crafts on display was very good.

Perhaps my favourite were the fantastic colourful line drawings of local places produced by BCE Drawing . Unfortunately my photos don't bring out their best as the were behind plastic or glass, but you can appreciate the workmanship still. They have just joined Facebook .

Inside the hall were more craft related stalls such as Imod Fashion, and also sellers of goods ranging from watches to wines from Wild Fox, and second hand books.

There were also some delightfully quirky figurines with lovely lifelike expressions that I haven't seen at other markets.

Of course I can't ignore the food on sale, and knowing many readers have a sweet tooth I took the mandatory photo of cupcakes from Keet's Treats .

To satisfy my savoury appetite, I indulged in a delicious gourmet chicken, pumpkin and feta hot dog. Despite my not being keen on pumpkin, I would rate it highly.

The Markets were not as busy as some craft markets I have seen, but it was a hot day and I think there must have been another major event on locally, as there was a heap more traffic than usual.

I will certainly go back and see what new gourmet sausage is on the barby.
