Sellino's Deli Café – Continental Delicatessen, Café and Fine Food

Situated next to a petrol station and along a busy road, this unassuming little deli-café is easy to miss, were it not for a workmate who recommended I try this place for lunch. The café is small with limited outside seating and a little more than a handful of tables inside. They sell gourmet Italian deli items, some staple grocery items, breakfast food, pizza, pasta, burgers, hot chips and wedges, gelato, coffee and fresh-baked bread and fresh-made pizza bases.

Sellino's prides itself on friendly service and fresh food made from scratch in the premises. I ordered the small "Mr Sellino's pizza" ($11.95 and toppings included mortadella, pineapple, bacon, mushrooms) and wondered why it took some time. As I waited, the waiter (who I assumed was the owner) apologised for the wait (the wait wasn't too bad, only about 15 minutes, if that) and when he did bring the pizza out, he spoke to me about their pizzas. He said the dough was made fresh as you order (which explains the wait) with all-natural ingredients and he showed me the pizza bases they sold and even offered to show me their freezer full of pizza bases (they also make their own breads fresh). I wonder if he knew that I was a reviewer as he was very informative (and even if he didn't know, he would not have been in doubt after he saw me take a photo of the pizza!). Before I tucked in he said to me, "You will love it!'

He wasn't wrong.



The pizza was delicious – the base was perfect, not too thick or thin, and nice and crispy on the edges. The topping was just right, not too sparse or over the top; the cheese was nice and stringy and the "small" size filled up the entire plate and was very filling! All too soon my lunch break was over and as I was walking out, he thanked me for coming and I made a mental note to try their other pizzas and maybe even their gelatos.
