Sunshine is one of Melbourne's best kept secrets. Inner city and full of period homes on massive blocks, Sunshine is home to a fantastically diverse community of people from Sudan, India, Vietnam, Malta and Cyprus. This diversity is most evident along Hampshire Road, where cheap Vietnamese, Indian, African and European grocery stores and eating venues line up.

One of my favorites is the Selena Hot Bread shop where one can buy three rice papers rolls for only $4.00. You can buy a set of three prawn or three vegatarian, with either a spicy sauce or a fish sauce. Not only are they cheap, they are generous in size. The silky rice paper bursts from the delicious ingredients inside.

Other favourites include a crusty bread roll with salad and Vietnamese barbecued pork, meatballs, or chicken for $3.50, or a meat pie for $2.10 (all prices as of August 2011).

They also sell an array of prepared dumplings and noodle dishes like fried noodles, sticky rice with Chinese sausage, and meat and vegetarian buns.

The bakery has seating inside and outside and is always packed with council workers and locals.
