Glide away on your nerd-mobile
A Segway is a self-balancing machine on two wheels, with a little platform you stand on and a single support/steering mechanism that comes up to your waist. If you're like me, you've seen Adam riding one on Mythbusters. You can hire one yourself through SEG Glide Ride.

Sessions go for fifteen minutes, thirty minutes or an hour, and the segways are delightfully, astonishingly intuitive within about a minute - although a twenty-minute training session is both mandatory and included in the price.

During your session, guides will take you for a short tour along and near the lakeside - a place packed with interesting sights and beautiful public gardens. The speed limit is 12 kilometres/hour to make sure no-one hurtles wildly out of control (it is possible to fall off if you work pretty hard at it), which is a little bit of a shame but they're still a lot faster and more fun than walking.

They are popular so call the staff to book in advance. Because they're located beside the lake, just park at or near Questacon and walk towards the water - or there's a small carpark and kerbside parking right beside them.
