Silly question I know, but have you found that your weekly shop is going through the roof? Discover how seed saving can help improve your food budget, assist biodiversity and generate self-reliance at the Seed Saving Sessions, run by Sunshine Coast Libraries.

Join Soul Cauley from the Maleny Seed Library for basic seed-saving techniques. Soul Cauley initially approached Sunshine Coast Libraries about housing seeds (see my previous article on the Seed Library Program here), accurately believing that libraries are generally at the heart of a community, providing one of very few spaces where the community can gather at no cost.

At the Seed Saving Sessions, participants will -

Explore the value of seed saving, the difference between open pollinated and hybrid seeds, how to harvest and how to store seeds correctly.
See a variety of seeds on display that are easy-to-save seeds like lettuce, tomato, beans and peas.

The Seed Saving Sessions will be held at the Kawana, Maroochydore, Maleny, Nambour and Caloundra Libraries on specific dates in February and March.

The Seed Saving Sessions will be super-beneficial to families, retirees or anyone keen on enhancing their home-food gardening skills, as well as providing participants with the satisfaction of reducing food bills when plating up, directly from the garden.

The Seed Saving Sessions are totally FREE and with limited numbers available to attend any one session, registration is absolutely essential. Should keen 'seed savers' discover their chosen session is full, there is a waitlist available too.
