Expansive park along a main road to suit all family members
Where is Sedgley Park?
Sedgley Park is located in Alderley, a suburb just 7km north-west of Brisbane's CBD. Despite being along busy Enoggera Road (and quieter Alderson Street), Sedgley Park makes for a quiet place for a stroll, with many facilities available on site.
For those taking public transport, Sedgley Park conveniently has its own bus stop, with buses stopping directly outside the park entrance on Enoggera Road in Alderley. For those driving, there is plenty of street parking along Alderson Street, near Newmarket Olympic Pool.
Heaps of playground equipment, including spider's webs, swings, jumping frogs, swivelling structures, and of course, your standard slides. There is also a wheelchair-accessible glider that meets all safety standards called Sway Fun by Playscape Creations. There's bound to be something that satisfies your children, and keep them occupied while you have a much deserved rest!
There are electric barbecues available for family to use to host a picnic or birthday party, with plenty of seating options - from shady gazebos to park benches to good old grass, you'll keep everyone in the family happy; including the sun-conscious adults and the sun-loving children (who still need to wear sunscreen)!
Without a doubt, if dogs could speak, their favourite facility at Sedgley Park would definitely be the off-leash dog park! With separate enclosures for big furbabies and little furbabies, space is not an issue here. Basic canine facilities are available, including water bubblers and doggy poop bags, in addition to a range of agility equipment for the dogs aiming for the canine-olympics. For the human companions, there is a gazebo and several park benches across the two enclosures, for you to rest while your furbabies do a good job of tiring themselves out.
What facilities are available for fitness enthusiasts?
There is free fitness equipment scattered around Sedgley Park, which is always a great facility to have at a park because unlike gyms, which may charge hefty joining and/or membership fees, Sedgley Park is free to visit and use by all patrons. Plus, it stays relatively quiet, so you can work on your exercise regime in peace!
