Cute and quirky caffeinated sweet tooth's heaven
Tucked away in a tiny suburban side street of Robertson lies Secret Trees Coffee. This charming little café will have you simply salivating upon reading the menu with item names like pink fairy on a cloud, berrymisu, and honey butter bread. Serving up unique sweet treats, bakery delights and one of a kind drinks, Secret Trees is open from 8am until 9pm every day making it a great place to catch up with friends or indulge in a little me-time, at any time.
It is difficult to decide whether it is the drinks or the desserts that are the hero at Secret Trees so of course we had to try both. The Secret Trees signature treat is the addition of a hand spun fairy floss cloud which sits atop of a selection of hot or cold beverages. My girls couldn't go past the fairy on a cloud milkshakes available in colourful flavours of lime, blueberry and strawberry, but generously made up in chocolate flavour form to satisfy my daughter's tastebuds on this particular visit. Sitting beneath this floating pillow of sugary sweetness was a surprise choc wafer stick straw. Other interesting cold drinks that we have earmarked for future visits are the iced green tea latte and the peach and mango fizzy summer drink special.
Feeling on cloud nine enjoying a delicious chocolate fairy
For caffeine lovers Secret Trees is one of the few suburban cafes in Brisbane where you can enjoy an afternoon or evening coffee fix without having to go past a drive through window. They do the range of coffees and teas you would expect to find in your run of the mill cafés, but they also serve some unique hot beverages. Cloud Affogatto served with ice-cream, fairy floss cloud and sprinkles is a beautifully delicate drink and was hugely popular upon surveying the other tables. My Secret Trees drink of choice however is the rose latte. This pretty little drink is a sweet twist on a classic where both the rose and coffee aromas hit as soon as the cup is served.

There is a selection of bakery treats to choose from in the display cabinet (also available for pre-order and purchase in take away boxes that would easily double up as gift boxes) as well as menu options. We had our eye on the red bean matcha cake or waffles with ice cream and syrup, but in the end we couldn't go past the rainbow cheesecake for afternoon tea. Not only was it a feast for the eyes but for our tastebuds as well. The lady who served us explained how the layers of rose, blueberry, lime, banana, mango, peach, strawberry and vanilla had been baked in the kitchen earlier that morning.
Rainbow cheesecake is sure to brighten your day
While the café doesn't have a lot of street appeal once you step inside it feels as though you've entered another world. Almost whimsical, this place is light and airy and is definitely guaranteed to lift your spirits with its sweet little quirky touches. Look out for the secret book treasure cases, Totoro figures, chalk board art and leather bound menus filled with photos of Secrets Trees gorgeous creations.
Secret Trees Coffee is located in the Robertson Village Shopping Centre, just across the road from the QEII hospital and Griffith University, and only a short drive from the Mt Gravatt exit of the South East Freeway.
