A City of Stirling spokesperson said the Secret Garden had seen an increase in visitors, prompting social distancing concerns.
“As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has noticed an increase in usage of all its parks and reserves, including the Secret Garden in Gwelup, due to other activities being restricted,” the spokesperson said.
“This naturally increases during school holidays.
“Based on direction from WA Police and in the interest of public health, the City has temporarily closed the Secret Garden.
“In addition to existing closure signage, WA Police will be regularly patrolling the area, with support from the City’s staff.”
Nature at its finest
I had been wanting to visit the Secret Garden for months. Images of this beautiful place had been haunting my Instagram feed for what seemed like forever! When I finally managed to visit on Valentine's Day this year, I was in seventh heaven!
Accessing the Secret Garden was a lot easier than what I had been expecting. I was actually shocked at how easily accessible it was! I had imagined finding it in a secluded far away area on the outskirts of Perth, but to my dismay (and relief), it was actually right in the middle of a suburban development!
Despite my initial shock, the Garden lived up to my expectations. When entering the garden, it is like stepping into a whole new world and from within, you would never expect to find houses just a couple of metres away.
It is so lush and unruly. Something you would find to be the setting of a forest fairytale. The perfect place for a picnic and especially for everyone of all ages to explore! If you are into photography, I would seriously advise that you visit this place ASAP. I only wish I had taken more photos of this stunner!
